It's your 2nd birthday

I thought about writing a long sappy letter, but my feelings for you haven't changed. Every single day you continue to fill me with wonder & pride. That hasn't changed. Beside..... words will never be able to express the amount of love I feel for you at any given moment.

Every afternoon & every night I snuggle you close until you fall asleep. Your body pressed against mine. Today though.... I realized that you were much longer than you had been. And I started to think, "Wow. My baby boy isn't such a baby anymore. He's growing up." I must've gotten lost in the squeeze because you wriggled your way out as if to say "Hey lady! Let me breathe."

But you are my baby boy. And at the same time you're this little boy. This little boy who giggles a little boy's devilish giggle. This little boy who finds new things to explore everyday and attacks each thing with zest. It's a zest only little boys have, I think. Your sense of adventure & need to conquer all challenges in your way are what give you your zest.

So at 2 years old what are some of the things you're doing? Well let's see.

You're starting to stand on your own. You think its hysterical to launch yourself back onto your tushy. Me.... not so much.

You're starting to walk on your own. Boy was it a rude awakening for Meredith when she realized you were leveling the playing field.

You're talking. Maybe not fluent in 4 languages (really who is?), but talking & getting your point across.

You're getting ready for school. Can you believe it?! This September you will be starting school. 

You have really started to relate to the world around you. It was awesome to me when you laughed for the 1st time at your sister falling. And then again when you laughed at a part in a movie. 

You & Meredith share an amazing bond. And lately there is more love than fighting between you two. 

Hmm...

I'm sure there are so many other things I could say, but know that nothing I could say would adequately describe the happiness & joy you bring to our world each & every day.
