First Sean's update. Sean is up 3oz. He's 7lbs even. The pedi said he's content with that. I said "not happy? just content?" No more "failure to thrive" because they like to see 1/2-1oz weight gain a day. Sean is at about 1/2oz a day from Wednesday. They're pulling Meredith's chart so we can compare the 2 kids and see if it's just how my kids grow or just Sean. The dr said that I may want to reconsider breastfeedin and just pump. I said I wasn't comfy with that. The 2 pedis & 2 nurses said. "he's still getting breast milk & closeness". Um..... I calmly explained that it wasn't only that. I told them that all the research I have done says that breastfeeding improves muscle tone in the mouth and helps down's kids with speech later in life because it is more work. So the pedi said to use saline before nursing to ensure his nose was clear and if the Lactation Consultant wanted to call them to help figure it out I could ask her do that.
He's still pink. Muscle tone still looks good & he rolled over. I told them that he had done it over the weekend & they didn't believe me. It must've been a fluke. Then he did it right there on the table. That was awesome! They're going to see if they can get him the RSV vaccine a little earlier than it normally comes out so that he can get 2 doses before his surgery. It doesn't usually come out until october, but I really want him to have it before then. They're going to call me tomorrow to let me know if they can get his earlier. We're also going to go back every 2 weeks for his vaccines so he's up to date per the AAP, but still only gets 2 vax each time. I am just not comfortable enough to give such a tiny little person more than that at any one time. I know it just prolongs the agony of the vaccines, but he's so tiny. Plus.... if there is a reaction to one of the vaccines, I'd like to have only 2 to pick through than 4.
His liver is fine, not putting any pressure on the lungs so that's not contributing to his tiring out from breastfeeding. We continue on the zantac because he's not gagging anymore & doesn't smell like vomit since we started it. YAY! We'll goto the cardio on Thursday & get another weight then and then we go back to the pedi on Monday.
Meredith was a pest and didn't want the drs to touch Sean. At least not without her supervision. I thought that was so cute. She was fine once the nurse picked her up so she could see Sean. Is she too much or what?
Everyone oohed & aahed over them and no one told me how tiny Meredith is. I always feel like a rock star when people ooooh & aaaaah over my kids.
I took them to mickey d's for lunch and Meredith was a pest. Wouldn't let anyone talk to me or Sean. She just kept screaming "NO BABY!!!" She's too much.
As we sat there and ate, I watched the people. Mickey D's is universal. It crosses all lines & barriers. It's where the young meet the old. Where the rich meet the poor. Where the business man in a three piece suit meets the stay at home mom with a picky eater. Every nation and religion is represented at any one time. Have you ever sat there & just watched the people?
Well today I had the chance to do just that. I watched & watched & watched and quite frankly I'm a little amazed at how fast people eat & how little people see. Not one person there paid attention to the details. Ok that's not true. The kids did. The kids noticed the summer decorations hanging from the ceiling. One noticed a light was out on the menu board. Meredith noticed all "the people. They say hi". Meredith is still quite shy and isn't much for very outgoing people who just want to say hi. She's also not into the whole touching thing. What makes people, especially older people, think it's ok to just touch people's children? I know they're not doing it maliciously, but still. It's like touching a pregnant woman's belly without asking. Ask the poor kid first or you'll get it. Meredith is very quick to let everyone know her feelings about it. She will tell people "no touch" or "no hair". And if they still keep going, she yells at them. Good for her!
Since having Meredith & learning of Sean's diagnoses, I have learned to pay attention to more detail. It really does make the whole world more interesting. The little things that catch your eye. Like the young girl wearing way to little clothing. For the record, I will break Meredith's legs if she attempts to wear what a lot of tween girls are wearing. Or the older woman wearing way to much perfume. The decorations hanging from the ceiling.
Watching the business man in his suit ignore everyone else around him while the stay at home mom gets looks for feeding her toddler a mickey d's cheeseburger. It's interesting and makes the time spent doing any one thing during the day that much more worth doing.

no pictures?! WOW (just kidding). I'm glad the pedi appt was great. Love McDonalds and you're right; all types go there.
