Meredith walked her puppy & Brewster was quite the gentleman. He's always so good with her. We all got out, got some air and had a nice time together.

It's so funny & so great that the dogs let Meredith do anything to them. She climbs on them, sits on them, pulls them. They really are saints.

The other day Meredith & I went to what used to be Nelly Bly. I don't know what the name of it is now, but it will always be Nelly Bly to us. They have a carousel and since my "AHA" moment that Deno's had a carousel, I figured Nelly Bly would also. And they did! But guess what? Meredith wanted no part of the carousel. She saw all the other rides and wanted to go on those instead. Unfortunately, she's still to short to ride most of them. Which I think it total crap, but what am I going to do? We went on the train and then the carousel. In fact we went on the carousel twice.

We had lunch at Wendy's and her toy was a disguise. Is she hysterical with that thing on?

Then we went for ice cream by the water. Meredith is an ice cream snob. She won't eat ice cream from an ice cream shop. On from "The Man". Or Mister Softee. Is she funny or what? So we had "cream from the man by the fishies". Is she cute or what?
The ice cream man by Caesar's Bay is great to. His ice cream is good & he doesn't charge us, but $1 for some ice cream in a cone for Meredith. So she gets to hold her own cone. I love that she can enjoy herself like that. It's truly what being a kid in the summer is all about.

She ate her ice cream and we walked to the fishies. NYC put up metal pictures of the local fish and their descriptions. Meredith likes to go over there & see the fishies. I also think she imagines the fishies in the water. Which I think is so cool. I think it's amazing how a kid's imagination works. I mean.... I know those fish are in that water, but she doesn't. She has to imagine that they're there.

We came home & played with play doh. This stuff is messy! But we had a good time. I taught Meredith how to make snakes and flowers with the play doh. Then she mixed all the colors together & squished it all through her fingers.

Happy July 4th from our little firecracker!!

We went to Coney Island. The heat was absolutely insane. We went for lunch and to hopefully tire Meredith out a little bit. Little did we know how crazy it would be there. Well ok... that's not true. We did know, we just weren't counting on the train being so crazy.

We got there just in time for the hot dog eating contest. The amount of people crowding the street was crazy! But at least they weren't blocking the whole thing. We were eventually able to make our way through & headed to the boardwalk for lunch. We weren't privy to the whole Kobi debacle while we were there, but I'm still pretty amused by it.

We saw the FDNY there all dressed & ready to go. They must've been DYING in that heat. I imagined they were there in case the boardwalk just caught on fire from the heat. It was that hot out.

We had lunch at the Gyro Corner at West 12th Street on the boardwalk, but the sun was just way to strong. So we headed to Ruby's for some raw clams & a beer.

When we got home after lunch, Meredith went down for her nap. Thank goodness because she really needed it. Especially since we were going to a friend's house we hadn't seen since Meredith's birthday party last year.

We went the bbq & had a good time. We ate and my contractions started to pick up. Of course being that I'm still here.... you can see they didn't amount to anything, but they were really uncomfortable. Meredith met a friend and had a cupcake with her. How cute are they in their little July 4th outfits?

And then we came home. All in all it was a good day and very exhausting.
So you can see that we've been busy little bees around here.
