Chugging along

On Thursday we went to the pedi to finish up Sean's 6 month well visit. He needed his Dtap vaccine. While there he was weighed & measured. My boy is a whopping 14lbs 3 oz and 26 1/4 inches long. By comparison, Meredith at the same age was 14lbs 8oz & 26 1/2 inches long.

My expectation was that since Sean has down syndrome, he'd be considerably smaller than Meredith. Maybe I'm just destined to have small kids. It's not like they come from giants right? But here's a comparison of them. He just looks so much bigger than she did.

But then again.... now that they're right here together..... I guess they don't look so different in size. Humpf. So then why does Sean feel so much heftier? Eh. Who cares? Such little snuggle bunnies.

It's so weird to look at pictures of them. They both look like me at different stages. I see a lot of Rob too, but this blog is mine. Heh heh heh.

Just for good measure here is a picture of me almost 34 years ago. Oy.... did I really just say 34?

I can't believe I'm going to be 34. That just sounds so...... I don't know..... old.

In other news.......

Yesterday we hosted the first down syndrome group meeting in our house. It was very nice to sit & meet with other parents who have kids with down syndrome. One mom has a 6 year old with 46 chromosomes & her 2.5 year old has DS. I think what was nicest of all was that a) I'm really not alone and b) Meredith couldn't have cared less how many chromosomes they had. She played with them, shared with them, etc. I was totally expecting the "mine monster" to show her face, but she stayed away. I was so proud to see that our hard work is paying off in the department. She was just as happy as we were to make new friends.

Today we're going to an open house for a school we may send Meredith too. It's a private Lutheran school a few blocks away from here. I've been iffy about sending her to a Lutheran school. Ya know... because we're Jewish. I've been putting it out there to get other peoples' feelings on it and it's been a mixed bag. One person who did help to make me feel better about it was my gma. She said it didn't matter as long as the education was good. She told me about how she had gone to different schools of different faiths. That was reassuring.

Other folks haven't been so reassuring. I'll be back later with a school update.
