Being a girl

When I got pregnant with Meredith I was so hell bent on having a boy that I was a little disappointed when she turned out the be a girl. Not everyone will admit to it and I was happy to have a healthy baby no matter what. But I really thought I wanted a boy. That is until I realized all the things I was going to be able to do with her and teach her. All of the girly things we were going to be able to do together that a boy would never appreciate.

You know things like watching Cinderella together or doing new hairstyles. Trying on mommy's lip gloss when I'm getting ready to go out somewhere. Playing dress up & learning to dance like a princess. Teaching Sean how to dance like a ballerina & watching mommy dip Dutchess, the dog, during the waltz.

One of the things I never realized, until recently, that I wanted to do with my little girl was goto the salon to get a manicure & pedicure. We went last week for the 1st time together and she had a blast. I was desperate for a pedicure and we were both desperate for some girl time.

It seems I have finally figured out a way to carve out a little time that is just ours. And I have to tell you..... it feels nice. It feels nice to know there is a time when Meredith & I can just do girl stuff.

We went again tonight. Rob came home and I let him know that dinner was FFY (fend for yourself) and Sean needed a bath. I made a deal with Meredith that she could wear her princess pj's out, but they had to be pants. She couldn't go out in her nightgown. And we were off. Mani/pedi's and then ice cream.

I can't wait for next week.

  3. I am not much of a girly girl. However, passing all the girl clothes in a store, or the dolls and such, makes me think I'd have a good time with one. It looks like you are making out just fine with a girl! LOL!

  4. Looks like a great time. I know what you mean - I was convinced i was having a girl with both pregnancies and was a little sad b/c I was looking forward to all the things you're enjoying w/ M. Now I have firetrucks and trains and running around... and it's all good :)
