And off we went. We stopped for breakfast at our local diner. We had eggs, toast & potatoes. Meredith had sausage with hers. Of course I was offering the same thing at home, but..... mine must not be as good. I know food always tastes better when someone else cooks it for me, but that's because I'm usually the one cooking.
While we were eating, Meredith discovered there was a mirror right above her head. Oh the thinks you can think when there is a mirror nearby. So of course she admired herself and practiced winking with both eyes.

I know the question on everyone's mind is...... "Did she actually eat?" HA! She did manage to have a few bites, but by few I mean like 5 total. But she was having a good time & I got to eat and have a cup of coffee. So I'll take 5 bites from her.
After we paid, we were off! We went to go pick up Sean's birthday picture & went to Once Upon a Child to see what the offerings were. I scored some cute stuff for Sean. I usually get some awesome stuff for Meredith, but there wasn't much for her this time. I managed to get one of these for $10
I also got a couple of outfits for him.No trip to Staten Island is complete without checking out the carousel .

I made sure to ask whether they are open for business to the public in September since Meredith's birthday party is in the playground behind it this year. Could you imagine inviting a bunch of folks to a birthday party, promising them rides on the carousel & it being closed? Oy. Good news..... They are open.
Meredith was so happy on the carousel. We rode on it twice. Just so she could check it out & make sure it was just as fun as she'd remembered it. Guess what. I'm happy to report that it was.

And like any self respecting carousel rider, we shared an iced cream. Ok..... well.... Meredith allowed me to have 2 bites.

We looked at the sky & I told her they reminded me of marshmallows and if you looked really close, sometimes you can see shapes. "Like a diamond mommy?", she asked. "Yes baby. Like a diamond in the sky.", I answered. "Quick mommy!!! Take a picture. Mommy can I take a picture?", she yelled. "Of course baby."
I present you with the sky according to Meredith

We watched the geese & dodged goose poop on the ground. "Look mommy ducks!"

I'm pretty sure the white goose in the background is yelling at me for being on his turf.

We joked, sang & talked the whole way home. It was so nice. I was even surprised when she ordered me to put my window down. Hmmmmmm And now she likes a select few songs on the radio that she asks to have turned up too. It was a good morning spent with a very special little girl.
We spent some time with Sean & Rob when we got home and then I put Sean down for a nap. Why waste an afternoon right? So Meredith & I went for pedicures. Oh how I missed Nancy the last few weeks. She scolded me for cutting my toenails to short again. One of these days she's just going to realize that I like them short. Nancy gives the world's best massage. OH MY GOD my calves are like putty when she's through with them. She massages muscles in my feet I didn't know existed. Aaaaahhhhh

Meredith gets everything, but a soak & doesn't get anything cut. She loves it. She picks out her color and allows the woman to work her magic. At the end she gets designs on her big toes & her thumbs. The service that Meredith receives there is unprecedented. I'm so happy she likes it.

Oh. HOW MUCH FUN!! What a fun day. I want a little girl to do those things with!!!! Maybe I will make Julian come with me to get his nails done. =) Love the sky photo from meredith!
