When I look into my kids' eyes I'm reminded of a certain kind of wonder that only kids possess.
Meredith has searing mysterious brown eyes. They're the biggest brown eyes you've ever seen. It's only by her eyes that you can really tell she's enjoying something or really not enjoying something. You can see her soul through those eyes. You can see her love of life through those eyes. You can see her wonderment through those eyes. Her eyes hold secrets. Secret thoughts & secret wants.
Sean's eyes are deep blue. They look like blue crystals at the bottom of the sea. Through his eyes you can see a zest for life. He is very easy going, but his eyes take it all in. When he's nursing and he fixes his gaze on something, the light hits his eyes just so. You can see the whole world in front of Sean through his eyes. You can see the gears turning as he makes sense of his new world. His eyes are not deep and mysterious. His eyes harbor no secrets like Meredith's do. He wears his heart in eyes.
I can tell so much about my babies through their eyes. Things I never thought to look for in anyone else. I can tell when they're scared, when they're hurt. I can tell when they're happy and content. I can see love and excitement. I can see light. I am instantly uplifted anytime I get to look into their eyes. I am wrapped in love as soon as they're eyes light up when they notice I'm watching them.
I never get tired of staring at my kids eyes.
