I am a mother and a mommy

Today is Mother's Day. But what exactly does that mean? Anyone can be a mother. Anyone can give birth to a child. But I'm a mommy too. And that means much much more. I am a smile maker. I am the hugger. I am the kisser. I am the teacher. I am healer of boo boos. I am giver of nourishment. I am a practical joker. I am the disciplinarian. I am the ATM. I am the magician.

It means so much to have your little angel (the batteries must be out in her halo) look up at you and say "ub ou mommy". Or look at you and just smile for seemingly no reason at all. Those are the moments I cherish.

My little boy also told me he "ubbed" me today. He decided to take a break on me this morning and gave me  light jabs and squirming instead of the 10 rounds of kickboxing he usually gives me. For that I am grateful and so are my kidneys.

I am happy for the little things. The little rays of sunshine that shine their way through all the clouds.
