A rainy day in Pennsylvania

It's a rainy day here in Pennsylvania. It didn't stop us from getting out though. We went to story time at the library. We saw some friends we hadn't seen since February. It was good for both of us. One woman brought her 3 week old daughter to story time. She also has a 2 year old. I cringed at the thought of bringing my newborn to a place with so many kids, but then I also thought I really needed to get over that.

I think a lot about how I'm going to balance Sean's needs to not get sick with Meredith's needs to be out doing things with other children. Plus I'd really like to build Sean's immunity up and the only way to do that is to expose him to the germs. I'm terrified that he'll get sick and have to have his heart surgery as an emergency. I'm scared that because of being sick he won't heal as well as he would if his immunities weren't already compromised. I'm going to have to work on this. I'm going to have to get some realistic opinions from his doctors.

I have been debating with myself whether it would be better for Sean to have his surgery earlier or later. I mean..... would it be so terrible if he has to have his surgery soon after birth? At least it wouldn't interfere so much with his therapies. He wouldn't get so far behind. I know they want him to be as strong as possible, but I want him to be the least inconvenienced. At the very latest, as long as he's healthy we want the surgery done as soon a possible. Since the surgeons like to do the surgery between 3 & 10 months old, we're shooting for 3 months old. We've already figured out that it would be easier for all involved if he's not as mobile as he could be at 6 months old. He won't mind so much having to lay down for most of his day.

In thinking about his surgery, I'm also terrified of hurting him. I'm terrified of Meredith hurting him. How is motrin or tylenol going to make a dent in his pain if it doesn't even make a dent in Meredith's pain from teething? I guess we'll see.

Meredith & I played in the rain a little bit today. She loves the rain. Unfortunately..... it's also cold outside & I'm not a big fan of wet feet. I'm going to have to get myself some rain boots so we can jump in the puddles together.

The puppies are also not big fans of the rain. I'm going to have to get them one of those leash umbrellas. Maybe it comes in a double.

We're meeting Rob later for dinner. We're having chinese food. MmMmmmmm there is a place up here that we've found and we were surprised by how good the food was. It's no surprise that when I gave chinese food as a choice, Rob jumped at the opportunity.
